Monday 31st December. We had a few new tandem jumpers here, Denise Kaitu, Kelsie & Jackson Mahon, Tanna Kelleher, Loche Scullion, and Claire Stephens. Also, Matt Ranken did AFF Stages 7 & 8 and Taine Davidson did Stages 8 & 9 – completing his AFF! It was a great day, lots of party people here and a wedding proposal on the DZ, er, above the DZ! And the party started!
Tuesday 1st January 2019. Happy New Year! How fast did 2108 travel! The DZ was closed for the day, and the party continued – until about 3.00 pm, then….not a sole to be seen!
It was back to normal by Wednesday. Two new tandem jumpers kicked off our New year; Western Moss and Charlotte Noonan took to the skies. Joel Pearson was here for Stage 3 of his AFF Course. David Pearson and Jared Moore both did Stages 3 & 4 of their Course. Ron Woonan did Stage 4, Sian Almond did Stages 6 & 7, and Byron Birch and Matt Ranken both did Stage 9 – completing their AFF! Fun jumpers emerged for a few loads. What a great start to the year.
Thursday and again we had more new tandems arrive, Brett Craig and Jules Sarta took to the skies. Lots of student were also here. Joel Pearson did Stages 4, 5, & 6, David Pearson and Ron Noonan did Stage 5, Jared Moore did Stages 5 & 6, and Sian Almond did Stages 8 & 9 – completing her AFF! Great stuff.
On FridayConnor Vennard arrived for a tandem, and did two! Plus Terry Frey did Stages 7, 8 & 9 – completing his AFF! Other novices, B-Rels and experienced skydivers filled the loads.
It was a bit of a quiet weekend, still on Saturday two more tandem jumpers, Nathan Barradas and Tim Keiler were here for their big leap. Bevan Walsh got stuck into it & did AFF Stages 2, 3 & 4. Tim Mingay completed his AFF with Stage 9, well done! The regular jump crew were here along with a few new faces. Plus Costa had a crew of swoopers here utilising the Cessna 182 for hop and pops.
Sunday was a crusie day. A few of our regular staff actually had a day off. Not Bevan Walsh though, Bevan did AFF 5, 6 & 7. Or the swoopers. Or the novices. Or the regulars and other fun jumpers! It was a great weekend start to 2019.
See ya! And Happy New Year from all of us here at the Drop Zone.

We spent eight days at Skydive Ramblers and had great time. Awesome DZ, awesome friendly staff, great airplane and facilities. Accommodation on premises was great and very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed after jumping socialising at the bar on DZ and great food both at DZ and in nearby Toogoolawah town. Skydive Ramblers are wingsuit friendly and there is plenty of landing space around DZ.
Highlight of our trip was incredible kangaroo action at landing area - we did literally land on kangaroos and it was great fun :-) There are also wild koalas in the area.
