SKYDIVING NEAR BRISBANE? TOP 5 REASONS TO CHOOSE US

Friday, May 5, 2017

You can ask anybody in-the-know: if you’re in Australia, especially if you’re around Brisbane–there’s one one place to go for a skydive that stands out from all the rest. Whether you’re a first-time skydiver or someone who’s looking to get that skydiving licence, our little wonderland at Ramblers is the destination for skydiving near Brisbane.

Dubious? Stop that. Here are the straight facts, which speak for themselves:

1. WE’RE WHERE NEW SKYDIVERS GO TO GET GREAT.

Ramblers is famous for its training school. We’re pretty proud of that! We’re well known for being one of the best skydiving schools in the country, with safety our first priority and a team of consummate professionals to guide each new jumper’s progression.

Our facilities, gear, and aircraft are all great, but we have the inkling that our awesome reputation goes beyond the high quality of our stuff. It’s our people that really make the difference. We really care about each individual student, and we work very hard to make sure that each student’s unique experience is as supported as it can be. Our students consistently confirm this by spreading the good word about what we do.

2. OUR OWNER IS A LEGEND.

Seriously. Ramblers Owner Dave “Macca” Mcevoy is a key figure in Australian skydiving, with nearly half a century of skydiving under his belt and over 10,000 jumps to his name. (He’s probably been nailing the art of being awesome since long before you were born!) He won the silver Medal at the 1988 Skydiving World Championships in the 8-way Canopy Formation discipline (and the Bronze World Medal in 1986). He’s a world Record holder for the 21-way Canopy Formation Stack he participated in during 1984, an Australian Gold Medallist in 10-way Speed Stars and a jumper on Australia’s largest formation record–when 81 skydivers made a formation jump together.

Macca is a super-interesting dude as well as being Australian skydiving royalty–and he’s a super-cool guy! Definitely say hi to him when you’re here.

3. YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE WHAT MACCA BUILT.

While he was earning all those accolades, he became obsessed with the idea to create a great place for the skydiving community – a country club for freefall people, basically – so he came up with the idea to develop Australia’s first purpose-built skydiving resort. Predictably, he nailed it.

Macca picked the Brisbane Hinterland as the home of his skydiving wonderland, and he opened the doors of the Ramblers Dropzone at Toogoolawah all the way back in 1979. Between the facilities, the training, the weather, the airplanes and the friendliness of the community, it has risen to be regarded as one of the top 10 skydiving dropzones in the world.

Today, Toogoolawah has literally everything a skydiver could need or want. It has classrooms, covered parachute packing areas, a team room, a rigging loft, an equipment and souvenir shop, a spacious hangar, a comfy bunkhouse, a big kitchen, a café, an in-ground swimming pool, a gym, a very big bar, foosball, and laundry facilities… even on-site cabins with ensuites. It’s the kind of family atmosphere where kids and kids-at-heart can run around off-leash all day (and night) long.

4. WE HAVE A FANTASTIC AEROPLANE.

We fly a 16 place modern Cessna Caravan. It’s a premier skydiving aircraft because it’s fast, comfortable and roomy. Sport skydivers come from all over the country to jump from this thing. Let this be a warning to you though: Once you’ve jumped from a Caravan, you start to get really snobby about stuffing yourself into a little Cessna!

5. YOU CAN LAND AMONGST THE KANGAROOS.

…Which, is, like, classic.
