Ramblers Drop Zone Update – Fortnight Ending 16 March

Well… we battened down the hatches for Cyclone Alfred – tied everything down, moved gear, prepped like pros – and then… not much! A bit of wind, barely a drop of rain. Looks like the DZ was sitting pretty in a sweet little safety bubble. No complaints here!

🐨 By Thursday the 13th of March we were back open and back in the sky – and we weren’t the only ones out and about. Our local resident Drop Zone Koala made a surprise visit, casually strolling past the Turkey Hut like he owned the place (fair enough too). Just a friendly reminder that while the skies might be clear, you still have to watch out for drop bears at Ramblers (🎬👉Watch the koala in action).

🏁 Joshua and Changeui kicked off their skydiving journeys with First Jump Courses, smashing out AFF Stages 1–3 and 1–2 respectively. They both learned Freefall Skydiving Techniques and Canopy Handling Skills on their very first jumps – legends!

⭐ Ongoing students were out in force too: Hung (Stage 3), Rusty (Stage 2), Stephen (Stage 9), Cameron (Stages 2 & 3), Conor (Stages 3, 4 & 5), Glenn (Stages 7 & 8), Josh (Stages 2 & 3), Peter (Stages 8 & 9), and Steve (Stage 9) all made solid progress. Congratulations to Stephen, Steve, and Peter for having completed their AFF Course with Stage 9! Keep it up, crew!

☀️ It was great to welcome back Dane, Nathaniel, Dave and Coley for refreshers – good to see you legends getting current again. Nick, David, and Shakira both knocked out some B-Rels – big congrats to Shakira on finishing the B-Rels table! Nice work, everyone, and onwards to the next steps!

🪂 And a massive high-five to our Tandem passengers Paris, Amanda, George, Benjamin, Riley, Victoria, Marilou and Louise – we hope you loved your taste of the skies!

The weekend brought the energy with two camps running simultaneously – heaps of Fun Jumpers rolled in, keen and ready to send it. Big shoutout to Madd Dog for running Vertical Descent #7, and to The Flying Nachos for hosting a solid Angle Camp – great vibes, stacks of learning, and some seriously fun flights. “Go Nachos! 🌶”

Cheers to everyone who made it out, helped out, jumped in, or just brought the good vibes. Here’s to blue skies ahead – cyclone-free, please!

Catch you in freefall,
The Ramblers Crew 🪂

Vertical Descent # 7

Vertical Descent #7 was held at Skydive Ramblers last weekend on March 15 & 16. This was a Head Down event consisting of 2 groups, 9-way and 5-way.

Multiple camps and a heap of fun jumpers and students were at the DZ, eager to hit the skies with some primo weather. Unfortunately, the white caravan with the new engine couldn’t quite make it in time, so it was up to Homer to run hard all day until sunset. Special thanks to Sara for all her help!

Coaches Matt Thomas and Dave Schlatter took 12 participants to the sky and Safe, Fun, Progressive jumps were had by all. We completed 8 jumps over the 2 days and saw some epic progression. Outside Cam Puttee and John Hannan were with us and captured some great footage and pics.

Special thanks to all of the participants, outside camera flyers and coaches. Skydive Ramblers and all of the team, SQPC and TSC for their continued support! It would not be possible without you all!”

Nachos Pop Art Camp Recap (March 15-16) 🎨🪂

What a weekend! We had 15 spicy legends, 4 Nacho-fueled coaches, and a whole lot of stoke in the skies. Each group smashed out 6–7 jumps, diving into angle flying fundamentals, safe approaches, solid break-offs, and loads of movement jump knowledge — all served with a side of smiles and high-fives. 🌶️🪂

The Pop Art 80s theme brought the colour, the flair, and the laughs — especially during our Nacho TV night, where we relived the highlights (and the hilarious moments) together.

What made it even more special was seeing so many familiar faces from the wider Ramblers skydiving community, with other events happening at the same time — the dropzone was buzzing and full of great energy all weekend long.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined, supported, danced, dressed up, and sent it! You made it magic.

Let’s Go Nachos! 🌮🔥 #Fly4Guac
