On Saturday 76 fun jumpers arrived!! That made up for the quiet week! 17 loads were done with both Caravans needed for the sunset rush. Our Tandem today was Alessandra. AFF students Ryan did TAFF Stage 1, and Sacha did Stage 6 of his AFF Course.  Nicolas, Kyle, Monica, Federico, Renee, Ken, Tom and Anna all did B-Rel Coach jumps till sunset. Plus it was Belly Bash in full swing doing a “competition event” simultaneously with UK drop zone Langer. What a day!

Belly BAshes – Australia vs UK!!! – Load Organising with Dawn & Chris

“On Saturday, Belly Bash went global with our first ever intercontinental competition!! Skydive Ramblers went head-to-head with Skydive Langar in the UK for “The Belly BAshes”, to coincide with the final test of the Ashes series!

Four jumps were planned, with Australia starting the comp on Sat morning and the UK following-on 9-hours later on their Sat morning. Both DZs did the same 4 rounds in the same order, and the best jump from each round was submitted for scoring. The scores were revealed on our Sunday morning! The UK got off to a strong start, beating Australia 4-3 in the first round, but the Ramblers crew dug deep to win the next three rounds, taking the Belly BAshes trophy in a nail-biting finale!

The weather could not have been more spectacular, and we had such an awesome day of jumping!! Thanks so much to all the Ramblers jumpers who joined to help us reach victory, and huge shout out to all the Skydive Langar crew and participants for such an amazing competition!!

As ever, huge thanks to our sponsors – Skydive Ramblers, SQPC, TSC, APF and Mee Loft for making these events possible, and to our talented camera fliers Michael Young and Anna Van Der Vlugt for capturing the magic!”

That was the most exciting adrenalin rush I have ever had. It was made so easy by the staff and those who jumped at the same time as I did. Not only did I feel included, but the genuine friendly nature of the people in that plane dissolved any nerves I had. What was so invigorating to see, was the eagerness of all to get out of the plane with no hesitation. Now: to the guy who took me as a Tandem, Tye, I know this man personally and wanted to jump with him. That never distracted from the professionalism shown and practiced by this Tandem Master. You made it easy and fun and beyond that safe. You are one top notch flier and I will jump again with you should I ever decide to do it again. Thank you so much everyone.

Barry Smith.
